Depending on which color is chosen, stone countertops are actually more affordable these days than the ever have been in the past, especially in the Kansas City area. We were just talking to one of our contractors the other day about how granite prices were more expensive a few years ago. When we say expensive, we’re talking around $65-$75 a square foot just for the material. Then you have to add in the cutout costs(s), sink(s), and any other extras that can be added (such as tear-out and disposal, plumbing, new tile backsplash, etc).
These days, granite is more affordable and attainable than it used to be. That also seems to be the case for other countertop materials too but we will just focus on granite as a general term here for better explaining and understanding. Along with the affordability and attainability, there also comes the many-upon-many fabricating companies that have more than tripled in Kansas City the past 5 years or so.
